Food and Drug Act
This Act was passed in 1906 to create heath standards for all domestic manufactured foods and drugs. It also required companies to properly label and identify the contents of the product. This also went for imported, meaning that any mislabeled goods were destroyed. The health standards set in place focused on sanitary goods and proportions. Food could not be sold rotten, poisonous or changed to look in betting condition than it actually being. (ex. dyeing meat to look fresh) Proportions of drugs were limited to standard pill sizes so people would not take too much of any specific drug, but still wouldn't take so little that it would have no effect.
